New year, new work!

Happy 2020! This year has been busy so far, working on portrait commissions. I have some work on display in my neighborhood at the People’s Pop Up Gallery on Fillmore at O’Farrell Street in San Francisco. Featuring a portrait of local musician Dewayne Oakley and famous Bay Swimmer Mitali Khanzode. Thanks to the San Francisco Parks Alliance for offering up the space!  It’s so nice to be able to show my work in my neighborhood.

Over the holidays I had the opportunity to work on a mural with my sister, artist Patricia Rodriguez, in the Bishop Arts District in Dallas. It is for a cute Airbnb rental called La Bodega de Bishop Arts. I look forward to painting with her again.

City Art 20th Anniversary

Last night, I attended City Art Gallery‘s 20th Anniversary. I’ve always enjoyed popping in and checking out their art over the years. There is so much art in there, it’s overwhelming! I used to live in the Mission and vaguely remember the grand opening. I can’t remember how, but I managed to get in to the first show. It was a warm, summer night, and I invited all my friends. We had the best time. The organizers arranged a great performance of flagdancing. The gallery was full and overflowing onto the sidewalk, which was filled with smiling faces. Good to see it’s still going strong today.

May 17th 2018 – Hospitality House Annual Art Auction

One of my watercolors was accepted as a donation for the Hospitality House Annual Silent Art Auction. For over a year I have been volunteering with the Homeless in Tenderloin and South of Market, and have met some of their residents, very nice people. The program provides free access to art materials and space for anyone to create.
